Many of us grew up hearing the names of legends spoken with reverence – Ustaad Vilayat Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Mallikarjun Mansur and later Kishori Amonkar, Bhimsen Joshi MS Subhalakshmi,…..One could go on.
Our elders spoke of them in a tone and manner that made us feel that we as a generation has missed out on something special – musically. Hearing about their talent and the anecdotes associated with such stalwarts, made us yearn to hear more, to somehow become a part of that energy, that magic that we had missed.
So we asked ourselves at MuseMusic…..the legends are gone.…can we not bring some of that spirit and energy back.…for us to listen and understand the greats and create memories of our own?
Can we celebrate the great lineages, gharanas, stories, and take audiences into the heart of this legacy?
That is how “Legends of India”was born.
Legends of India is not just a concert. It is a celebration of identity. A reminder of what we’ve inherited —and a responsibility to protect it… together.

Ustad Jawaad Ali Khan
Patiala GharanaThe torchbearer of, the Kasur-Patiala tradition as also the Ganda band disciple of his Grandfather Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. Trained by Ustaad Munnawar Ali Khan, Bade Ghulam Ali Khans son, a gharana luminary in his own right, who was taken from this world too soon, at the age of 56. You will see the JHALAK of both these geniuses in Ustaadji’s gayaki tonight.
Mala Sekhri
NarratorNarrated by Mala Sekhri, Founder MuseMusic, media personality, TV anchor, content creator, and former head of Music Today, the evening unfolds as a conversation between history and music. Through her narration, the audience journeys into the life, times, and temperament of the maestro — the anecdotes, the tales of riyaz, the discipline, and the divine inspiration that made Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib an artist beyond compare. The narration sets the context ,while Ustad Jawaad Ali Khan’s live performance gives it voice — creating a seamless dialogue between word and sur. Together, they recreate not just the sound, but the spirit of this towering legend of Hindustani music.
Vimal Venkatram
TablaVimal Venkatram has been playing tabla from the age of 5 and has learnt under the legends Ustad Alla Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain. Vimal has performed the world over with many artists and has also performed in fusion and rock shows in recent times. He has composed music for plays like Macbeth and Agamemnon in India and is now curating many innovative programs for Indian Classical Music
Tarun Joshi
HarmoniumDr. Tarun Joshi on Harmonium Assistant Professor, Department of Music Kurukshetra University. A B-High grade artist of All India Radio, Dr. Joshi is an accomplished harmonium player who has performed with maestros such as Pt. Rajan-Sajan Mishra, Pt. JayaTeerth Mevundi and Ustad Jawaad Ali Khan. He is known for his expressive accompaniment and refined solo performances.
Vinayak Sahai
SarangiVinayak Sahai - distinguished sarangi player of the Banaras Gharana, VINAYAK represents the 7th generation in the illustrious lineage of Pt. Ram Sahai ji, co-founder of the Gharana. He is known for his mastery of Thumri and Khayal gayaki styles and his deep sensitivity as an accompanist and soloist.
